About us

Who we are

Social Matters was created when three social worker friends, passionate about social change, came together to initially create a podcast aimed at starting and modelling conversations about a number of different important social issues. Following on from the success of their podcast, Nadia, Fran and Eugene set up Social Matters, a team with a mission to work collaboratively with organisations through consultancy, training and coaching/mentoring to enhance diverse and inclusive practices.

Social Matters is a diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) consultancy with over 50 years of combined experience working with/for diverse and marginalised groups with qualifications in social work, family therapy, coaching and higher education teaching.

What we do

In our work, we draw from our theoretical expertise in social work education, systemic family therapy, higher education teaching and coaching, to make relationships the centre of how we tackle DEIB challenges.

At Social Matters, we take a holistic approach to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, recognising that it encompasses a range of dimensions such as, race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, and more. Our experienced team of consultants and trainers possess deep expertise and a proven track record in educating others, enabling us to deliver impactful and transformative experiences for organisations.

Why work with Social Matters

In the current political, cultural and societal context, we have seen that there is a need to educate and equip people with ideas and tools on how to challenge injustice and inequality. This can be with regard to strategic direction, increasing knowledge or equipping people with tangible methods of embedding approaches that promote diversity, inclusion, equity and belonging. We have seen that institutions and organisations have policies that are inadvertently oppressive and at Social Matters, we want to ensure that organisations are supported to take steps towards a more self-aware position where all members of an organisation experience a sense of belonging in an inclusive space, so individually and collectively, everyone can thrive.
